Late Night Drive Track - Lana Del Rey - Summertime Sadness

Why Recommend

When people think of summer, they might picture graduation season, a sunset by the ocean, or memories of a long vacation. But for some people, Summer is simply spelled: Lana Del Rey. Summer,as one of the representative words of Lana's music, and this track captures the mixed emotions of the late summer. The intro immediately sets a wistful tone, and the steady drumbeat makes the song incredibly easy to sink into. It's especially effective on a late-night drive, when the atmosphere of the track really comes alive. The bridge is probably my favorite section. The transition feels perfectly placed, bringing a fresh emotional weight to the song. It's a small moment, but for me, it's what elevates the entire track.

Review

Lana, with her languid yet narrative-rich voice, sings about the nostalgia for the passing of summer. The atmosphere created by the Intro evokes a sense of mixed emotions, gradually building up to a climax as the drum beats intensify. Especially in the bridge section, the sorrowful mood is elevated even further. The person being missed gradually disappears like stars at sunrise, never to meet again. 'Even if you're gone I'm gonna drive' As the Bridge comes to an end, a string accompaniment plays in the latter part of the song, symbolizing the emotion of moving forward from sadness.
